Great Family Days Out with Hit!

Two bank holiday weekends this month - so we are sure that you will be looking for inspiration and ideas for entertaining the kids! We have found some great days out for you and the family, with prices ranging from free to £60 - just remember to take along a few packets of Hit biscuits to share and you have the perfect ingredients for a lovely day out!
1. Black Gang Chine, Isle of Wight
These 40 acres of Victorian cliff-top gardens make the perfect day out for kids and adults alike! Black Gang Chine has may fantasy areas to play in, such as Dinosaurland, Nurseryland, a Pirate Fort and a Cowboy Town, as well as rides such as a boat slide.

2. Wookey Hole, Wells, Somerset
Revamped and restored, the new Wookey Hole Experience launches this year in an explosive mix of history, mystery and fun. There’s the Witch of Wookey stalagmite, a penny arcade, and even a fairy garden; you can even produce your own paper at the 18th-century paper mill!

3. National Railway Museum, North Yorkshire and County Durham
York and and Shildon both house one of the best free museums in the country. Highlights at the National Railway Museum include a Japanese bullet train and and Mallard, once the fastest steam train in the world. There is also a model railway, outdoor play area and train-ride simulator to keep children entertained.

4. Snettisham Park, Norfolk
A wonderful 320 acre farm, where children can feed lambs and help to collect eggs. There is a large adventure playground for burning off energy, a deer safari, not to mention ride-on tractors. A lovely day outdoors for the whole family!

5. National Marine Aquarium, Devon
Explore life in estuaries, shallow seas and a deep reef. The Atlantic Reef is the showstopper of the aquarium where you can see all manner of creatures through the picture windows. The daily events include shark discussions, a rockpool and various diving shows.

6. Slimbridge Wetland Centre, Gloucestershire
Kids are encouraged to build dams, jump in puddles and mess around with water and generally get soaking wet in Welly Boot Land. Also, there are exciting activities such as 4x4 safaris, toad demonstrations and canoe safaris.

7. Jorvik Viking Centre, North Yorkshire
A ride back in time to AD975, with reconstructed streets showing what life was like in Viking York, including noises, smells (not always pleasant!), Lots of fun for kids, and is conveniently found in the centre of the city of York.

8. Big Pit Mining Museum, Torfaen
What can be more exciting than starting a day out by going on a 300ft decent down a mine sharft into a real mine, equipped with helmets and lamps? Get a feel of what life was really like for miners on this guided tour. The original winding engine house, blacksmith’s forge and fan house are open to visitors.
